This Privacy Policy describes how Torchingale (“Torchingale”, “we”, “us” or “our”) processes information in connection with the mobile application Memoly (the “App”).
By downloading, accessing or using the App, you acknowledge that you have read and understood this Privacy Policy.
1. Data We Do Not Collect
The App does not require an account. Connecting a Google account is optional and only used for Google Drive backup (see Section 3). We do not collect your name, email address, phone number, contacts, precise location or any other directly identifying personal information. Torchingale does not operate a server for the App.
2. Notes and User Content
All notes, images, voice recordings, drawings, attachments, reminders and related content you create in the App are stored locally on your device. Such content is not transmitted to, received by or accessible to Torchingale. Backup files you create are saved where you choose and are under your control. We have no ability to read, recover or restore your content.
Text recognition and document scanning are performed on your device. Speech recognition uses your device’s built-in speech service, which may be provided by Apple or Google under their own privacy terms.
3. Information Processed by Third-Party Services
The App integrates the following third-party services, which may process limited technical data under their own privacy policies:
- Google Firebase Crashlytics — diagnostic and crash data, including device model, operating system version, application version and anonymous identifiers, used solely to detect and resolve technical faults.
- Google Firebase Analytics — anonymous usage events and device information, used to understand how the App is used and to improve it. Advertising consent signals are not granted.
- Google Sign-In and Google Drive — optional. If you connect Google Drive, the App signs in with your Google account and stores backups of your notes and files in a private app folder of your own Google Drive (the
drive.appdatascope, which lets the App see only files it created). Backups travel directly between your device and Google; Torchingale never receives them or your Google credentials. You can delete backups in the App, disconnect at any time in the App, or revoke access in your Google Account settings. Google processes this data under its own privacy policy.
Crashlytics and Analytics do not receive the content of your notes. You can turn both off at any time in Settings → “Share usage data”.
4. Purposes and Legal Bases
Where applicable law (including the EU/UK General Data Protection Regulation and Turkish KVKK) requires a legal basis, we rely on our legitimate interests in maintaining the stability, security and improvement of the App.
5. Data Retention
Locally stored content remains on your device until you delete it or uninstall the App. Google Drive backups remain in your Google Drive until you delete them in the App or remove the App’s data from your Google Drive settings. Diagnostic and analytics data are retained by Google for the periods set out in its own policies.
6. Permissions
The App may request access to the camera, photo library, microphone, speech recognition, calendar, notifications and biometric authentication, solely to deliver the features you choose to use. Permissions may be revoked at any time through your device settings.
7. Children
The App is not directed at children under the age of 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your jurisdiction), and we do not knowingly process their personal data.
8. Your Rights
Subject to applicable law, you may have rights of access, rectification, erasure, restriction, objection and data portability. As we do not hold identifying information about you, requests concerning third-party services should be directed to the relevant provider. You may delete all App data at any time by uninstalling the App.
9. Changes
We may amend this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any amended version will be published within the App or on our website and takes effect upon publication.
